Blender 2.76

Here you can find the whole english Blender 2.76 manual in PDF format.

The Blender Foundation and online developer community are proud to present Blender 2.76, released Oct 9, 2015. (Update 2.76b is from Nov 3 2015). Main highlights for this release: Initial support for Pixar’s OpenSubdiv geometry subdivision technology. So there are many solutions that use the weight transfer tool but I can't seem to get this working with blender 2.76. I parent the rig to the clothes with empty weight groups under the deform option. I then, selecting the mesh and then the piece of clothing, go to weight paint mode and choose the 'transfer weights' option under the tools.

This Blender manual is a side product of the Bforartists development. It needs a manual too. And the Blender manual is the base for the Bforartists manual.

It is not exactly split in sub pages like the original online manual. But it is split into over 390 single pdf files. The online manual has even more sub pages. I had once planned to have just one pdf per chapter. Which would have meant to have 17 pdf documents. But that didn’t turn out well. Too big and too hard to navigate then. So i ended in having the pdf files nearly split like the original html files. What is missing is most of the links. They did not survive the conversion.

Additionally it comes with the whole manual in ODT format too. Which makes the manual now editable for everybody. ODT is the format for the popular free office suites LibreOffice and OpenOffice.

Note that this manual comes as is. I will not change it anymore. The goal was to have a converted base for the Bforartists manual. Which is reached with this version.

Blender 2.76 Tutorial

The original Blender manual was for a while under a wrong licensing type. It was unasked put under CC license. Which made this fix and reupload for this files necessary. Now the Blender 2.76 manual is back under OCL license.

The problem seems new to 2.76 in the FBX importer (not 100% sure), and can be reproduced with many of my .FBX character files, and this is important not only those coming from MakeHuman (nightly build). One of my characters exported from Mixamo Fuse 1.3.4 has the same errors, plus others :

  • Rotation of the mesh (lying on the back)
  • Skeleton deformed, incorrectly scaled and detached from the mesh
  • Mesh deformed and irregularly stretched

Image 1 shows the skeleton, separated and scaled incorrectly from the mesh

Image 2 shows the deformation on the hands on the mesh

And the source FBX file, coming from Mixamo Fuse

For reference, the same file imported in 3DS MAX works perfectly well

I'm working on a new game and this is a real big problem for me and my team. Import from the file in Unreal Engine 4 works like a charm, thank God, but we can't easily work on the file or the animations, and it's slowing us down. And we don't want to go back to 3DS MAX after switching to Blender ;-)
I will try today on Make Human and Fuse with other export / import filters, like Collada .DAE to see if the problems appear also (but I don't think so).
I'll keep you informed !
